WHO IS JSON?

As you probably have guessed already, it’s not the main character from the Friday the 13th series.

What would be the use case for that? Let’s say Ruby and Javascript want to send each other messages. Theoretically, they can send each other big chunks of unorganized text, but they would have to send each other Manuals on how to actually read the text. You would have to write Ruby code specifically for that piece of text in order to interpret it into Ruby code. The same goes for Javascript. If only there were common rules that everyone used. That’s where JSON comes in, it is that common rule/the format or the way of organizing the message to send, that both parties know regardless of whatever programming language or system they themselves use. Since it’s so popular, almost all programming languages either have built-in JSON interpreters or libraries to convert the JSON-formatted text into the respective programming language so that it can understand it and use it.
