7 Steps To Setting Goals.

How we can have a more satisfied life.

How can you enjoy life more?

Find the time to do all those things we had dreamed of?

Here are some tips on how to achieve those dreams you didn’t achieve last year.

Having clarity accounts for 80% of success and happiness. Knowing what you want gives you clarity. Lack of clarity is more responsible for frustration and underachievement than any other single factor.

People with clear, written goals accomplish far more in a shorter time than people without them could ever imagine. This is true everywhere and under all circumstances.

The three keys to high achievement are “Clarity, Clarity, Clarity,”.

Success in life will be determined by how clear you are about what it is you want. What you Really Want. What you will do anything to get. Without that determination, you could waste your time and achieve nothing.

These are the seven-step processes for setting and achieving your goals:

Only by discovering your innate strengths…by developing them…exploiting them to their highest degree — can you ever realise the greatest amount of satisfaction and enjoyment in everything you do.

To be successful, your goals must be specific, very specific. The more specific you are about your goals, the better and more able you’ll be to accomplish them no matter what method you use. This means you don’t just say you want to make more money or lose more weight. Say exactly how much money you want to make or how much weight you want to lose. Put a real and exact figure on it. Make it measurable.

Why is this so important? Well, in goal setting, to make it live to the mind and clearer, you must quantify that goal. Without specifics, there’s no real target, just some obscure direction. When the goal is obscure, it allows the psychology of your mind to override your goals. You succumb to things like emotion-numbing activities, to avoid doing something that wasn’t that concrete.

Specifics are the fuel in the engine of your goals. Provide specifics if you will achieve anything at all. When you write out your goals, be as specific as possible. And never be afraid to be too specific. In each area of your life. Be specific!

Next you must write down your goals. It is no good just saying to yourself. “I will do so and so to get to my goal”.

Your mind does not work like that. Writing down your goals, not typing, gives your EGO the directions to do what you want. The EGO can only do what you tell it,. Writing is the most powerful and efficient way to tell it what you want.

Again, you need to describe your goals in as much detail as you can. Don’t think “I can’t possibly do that”. your EGO will take that as a message you don’t really want what you’re asking. Anything is possible with your mind. Just think of the most successful inventors. Like Thomas Edison, he invented the electric light, but it took him 100 attempts, but he knew he could do it, and he did.

So do not be concerned that you won’t reach your goals. Just write down what you really want. Then work at achieving it.

Having set your goals then comes the most important part. State when you want to reach the goal.

Without a specific date you will achieve nothing. How is your EGO to know when to achieve this goal. If you do not tell it when?

As I mentioned before, you must be specific in your goal and then attach a date to achieving it.

There are three time periods to specify.

a Three months

b One Year

c Three to Five years

Setting these time periods will cope with different goals. Some goals will be easier to achieve, for example changing a habit takes between 21 and 40 days. So this will be one of your short-term goals.

Others will be larger and take longer. So this could be something like achieving a promotion at work or losing weight.

There will be your long-term goals. These will be your lifestyle goals, for example buying yourself a bigger and better homemaking a certain sum of money — say one million dollars.

For these large goal, break it down into sub-deadlines. Then write them down in order. These smaller steps will be easier to achieve but will get you to your larger goal.

Don’t think about this too long. Just write down everything you can think of, don’t consider if they are relevant or not.

Your mind will come up with many ideas which you may consider irrelevant but just add them to the list.

This list is flexible, new ideas will come to you over time so as they add them to your list.

I suggest that you should be able to find from 20 to 100 ideas for each goal. The smaller goals will have fewer steps and the larger goals more.

Now go through your list and put them in the proper sequence. Some items you may consider are unnecessary so put them aside for the time being. Later, you may find that they need to be included.

Next you need to assign a priority to each item. Some items may need to be done before others. You may do some items at the same time.

You now have a workable plan. That you can follow to get to where you want to be.

Now you have your plan you must take action immediately on what you have identified as a high priority.

It is no good to have a plan of action. And NOT take action.

Not starting means that you can never finish. So start. Find the resources you need to do the task. Then do whatever is necessary.

It is essential that you do something, anything that moves you toward the attainment of one or more of your important goals.

Thinking the task is too difficult is untrue.

You have created a plan that has small steps to a larger goal, so by doing anything is an achievement.

Maintain the momentum!

If you have read this far, you are ready to achieve whatever goal or goals you have set. Don’t forget that it does not fix your plan in stone. It is flexible.

As you proceed, you may find that you omitted some tasks, or some tasks need not be done.

Just amend your plan and continue. Don’t worry why you have to change it is the nature of any project that things will change.

Now is the time to start. So do it!
