How I replaced VBA with Python and saved my day.

One of my clients having entire database in Excel and not willing to move to sql or nosql.

Data within the excel has to undergo many changes like transpose and duplicate for each transpose etc.. Collate data from multiple sheets to one sheet.

Around 30K records will be transformed to 200K records.

This activity happens monthly once. Initially attempted the above activity with VBA. It took one whole day (Yes!!!) to complete the entire operation.

I am not happy with performing the same with C#/UIPath as well.

I decided to get hands dirty with Python. With help of Pandas DataFrame, operation like Stack, Join, etc, It took just a min to perform the entire operation and 5 mins of IO operation to write the same into excel.

And all these were done in an environment where MS Office is not installed.

It was so cool! Our team decided to utilize python for VBA data operation going forward. I bet, you guys should give a try. !!
