She is her own hero in this one.

Sometimes a woman just wants to read stories that inspire her. Stories that demonstrate the power of women. Without the need to compare them to men in any way, shape or form. Stories about how a…

Not Quite as Alone in the Woods as She Thought

She shivered in the cold night air. Elves weren’t exactly built for their constitution. Instead, they were kind of frail. And she was no exception.

But still, she was here, sitting out in front of her RV and trying to enjoy the forest around her. This was her family’s ancestral home, but she just didn’t feel the connection everyone claimed to feel.

There had to be any number of other young elves that felt this way since the humans had moved them out of their homes and put them on the reservation. There weren’t any wild elves anymore. She knew that. It was a sad truth. Had she been raised in the land of her parents she would have felt that connection to the land. But she just couldn’t do it.

An eerie feeling started to settle on her. It felt like she was being watched. She shivered and got up to make her way inside the RV, folding up her chair.

As she turned she came face to face with the tanned face and pointed ears of something that shouldn’t exist. A wild elf. A real wild elf. She blinked, staring at him.

He was wide-eyed.

“Uh, hi?” She tried to say something.

He straightened up and hissed at her.

She switched to her native tongue, trying to communicate. She wasn’t the greatest, her words were stilted and slightly mispronounced. “Hello?”

He responded this time, sticking to the elven tongue. “What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to come to see the place my parents came from.” She shrugged, trying not to be embarrassed.

“City elf?” He appeared to be taking it easy on her, speaking slowly, almost as if he thought she was dumb.

She couldn’t blame him for assuming that. She was completely out of her element. She nodded. “Sorry if I’m in the way. I didn’t think there were any wild elves left.”

“Only a few.” He shook his head.

“What are you doing?”

“Someone mentioned a woman. I wanted to come to see her, see if maybe she might…” He paused.

She took note of the slight flush of his cheeks. “Oh. Oh! Oh, you want to… you know?”

“There aren’t many women left here.”

“I see.” She chewed on her lip. “I guess I didn’t think of that. Uh, do you want to come in?” The thought of sleeping with one of…
