Horizons

An alternative to the lines we draw

Above our heads
One Sky bends
and ends
at One Horizon.
At this Horizon,
One Sky meets
One Earth,
and for this reason,
we should stand as One.

Leaders have come and gone,
ideologies turned to dust;
but One Union shall
stretch on
beyond the end of all of us —
The United Earth and Sky.

Myopically, we make our maps
and set up all our
boundaries.
But boundaries are not made
to last —
they’ll shift again,
as in the past.

One Sky does not see
the lines we draw
as He looks down on One Earth.
One Earth does not see
airspaces as She looks
upon One Sky.
Yet we still draw the lines.
Why?

To remember who we are
and are not?
To remember battles
best forgot?
There are no true boundaries,
only horizons.
Like One Horizon —
an imaginary line
where Earth and Sky
do not divide
but blend
into One.
